Madrid, 7 February 2024. Línea Directa Aseguradora was officially included in the S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook 2024, acknowledging the company's outstanding performance in environmental, social, and governance aspects. This recognition reflects the company's commitment to sustainability and its continuous progress in this field.

More than 13,000 companies were invited to participate in the 2023 Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) conducted annually by S&P Global. Over 3,400 companies responded to a comprehensive questionnaire covering over a hundred ESG-related questions. This assessment determines the composition of the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI), a global benchmark for measuring the sustainability performance of publicly traded companies.

Following this, S&P Global evaluated 9,400 companies worldwide across 62 sectors for potential inclusion in the 2024 Sustainability Yearbook, recognizing the top 15% of organizations with the best performance in their industries. In the end, 759 companies were mentioned in the Yearbook.

Línea Directa achieved a score of 72 out of 100 in the 2023 DJSI, representing an 8-point improvement from the previous year. The company made notable progress in the social dimension and scored maximum or near-maximum points in areas such as transparency and reporting, materiality analysis, emission measurement, employment indicators, human rights, and customer relationship management.

This score and the achieved improvements have enabled Línea Directa Aseguradora to become part of the S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook 2024 as one of the distinguished companies in the global insurance sector.

Patricia Ayuela, CEO of Línea Directa Aseguradora, expressed pride in receiving this distinction, emphasizing it as recognition of their commitment to sustainability. She highlighted that inclusion in the S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook 2024 demonstrates their ambitious strategy in this area, aiming for not only profitability but also the generation of positive social impact in collaboration with all stakeholders.

Advancements in Climate Change Management

In 2023, Línea Directa Aseguradora launched its 2023-2025 Sustainability Plan, the fifth of its kind for the company, integrating sustainability into its overall strategy and corporate culture for over a decade. According to this plan, the company made significant strides in crucial areas such as climate change management.

As a participant in the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosure (TCFD), the insurer aligned with its governance, risk and opportunity management, and metrics requirements. It is also preparing its first report on climate-related risks and opportunities according to the standard of this Task Force created by the G20's Financial Stability Board.

Furthermore, through measures taken to reduce emissions, such as increasing self-generated energy through the installation of photovoltaic panels and sourcing green energy for all its buildings, the insurer reduced its carbon footprint by 88% in the last two years. With these efforts, Línea Directa continues to progress toward its roadmap to become a carbon-neutral company by 2030 and achieve net-zero emissions before 2050.

Sustainable Insurance Products

In 2023, the company also adopted the four Principles for Sustainable Insurance (PSI) driven by the financial sector and the United Nations. This initiative aims to promote innovative insurance and risk management solutions contributing to sustainable, inclusive, and resilient economic and social development.

In this regard, Línea Directa focuses part of its strategy on supporting its 3.4 million customers in their transition to a more sustainable economy and society by launching sustainable products in its three lines of business (Motor, Home, and Health insurance).

Throughout 2023, the insurer expanded its "Póliza Respira," an insurance policy with specific coverage for 100% electric cars and motorcycles and plug-in hybrid vehicles. It also introduced a Home insurance policy for ECO homes covering the breakage and theft of photovoltaic installations and the resulting loss of production. Additionally, it launched an innovative coverage to assist customers in cases of illegal occupation of their homes, a problem with over 17,000 cases in Spain each year. Línea Directa became the first insurer to introduce a specific insurance against this phenomenon, called "Hogar Despreokupado."

In the social sphere, the company's policies on employment quality, human rights due diligence procedures, social action programs, and its activity in road safety through the Línea Directa Foundation, one of the most relevant in this field in Spain, are noteworthy.
