
John de Zulueta Greenebaum, independent director of Línea Directa Aseguradora, passes away

- A member of the Board of Directors of Línea Directa since 2015, following the company’s IPO in 2021 he served as Chairman of the Appointments, Remuneration and Corporate Governance Committee until April 2025.
Madrid, January 19, 2026. John de Zulueta Greenebaum, Independent Director of Línea Directa Aseguradora, has passed away today. Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and with an extensive career in the healthcare, financial, educational and consulting sectors, he was a distinguished executive, recognised for his strategic vision, his commitment to innovation and his dedication to society.
He held a degree in Contemporary History from Stanford University (California) and an MBA with honours from Columbia University in New York. Since 2015, he had been a member of the Board of Directors of Línea Directa Aseguradora as an Independent Director. Following the company’s IPO in 2021 and until April 2025, he served as Chairman of its Appointments, Remuneration and Corporate Governance Committee. Between 2001 and 2015, he was also a member of the Board of Directors of Bankinter.
He began his career as a consultant at The Boston Consulting Group in San Francisco and, throughout his long professional career, he led a number of prestigious companies, including PepsiCo, Schweppes, Grupo Sanitas (Bupa Group) and USP Hospitales. At the time of his passing, he was Managing Partner of the consulting firm Point Lobos.
Deeply committed to innovation, business ethics and good corporate governance, John de Zulueta had been associated with the Círculo de Empresarios since 2004, an organisation he chaired between 2018 and 2021. He was also Vice Chairman of the Bankinter Innovation Foundation and a board member of Universidad Europea (Laureate Group). This commitment to society was recognised by the King of Spain with the Grand Cross of the Order of Civil Merit.
His experience and business insight were of great value to Línea Directa. His dedication over the years and his vision made an outstanding contribution to the successful development of the company. Línea Directa Aseguradora and its Board of Directors deeply regret his loss and wish to extend their sincerest condolences to his family.
